About the
Calendar Andrew "Rube" Foster, a former Negro League player for the Cuban X Giants and Chicago American Giants, formed the Negro National League in 1920 in response to the exclusion of Blacks from playing White organized baseball. This new league was the first of its kind. Others followed: The Negro Southern League in 1929, the East/West League in 1932 and the Negro American League in 1937. These new leagues allowed arguably the best baseball players, Black or White, to showcase their talents, thereby producing some of America's greatest baseball players, such as James "Cool Pappa" Bell, Oscar Charleston, Ray Dandridge, Martin Dihigo, and many more. This calendar is filled with statistics and historical information. |
